our purpose
Although women make up half of any given patient population, women are often marginalized and dismissed in a world that reduces women's health to reproductive health alone. Women's health is a topic that extends beyond the OB/GYN specialty, and there are opportunities to advocate for women in any field. This Blue Book elective intends to fill the gap left by traditional medical school curricula to ensure that all students, regardless of specialty interest or identity, receive a robust women's health education.
objectives
-
Present topics on women's health that are inclusive of all genders, identities, and specialty interests.

-
Recognize gaps in clinical skills and research pertaining to women's health and provide knowledge and resources to fill those gaps.

-
Equip medical students with advocacy tools to support their female patients, including a focus on addressing inequities that hinder access to quality care on the basis of sex and/or gender.

-
Create opportunities for students to become advocates for women's health through open discussions with state legislators and community leaders.
